John
Hands is the author of three novels published in the UK and the USA by
HarperCollins, two of which were also published in book club editions
by BCA (selected as Editor's Choice). He is published in six other countries
and was shortlisted for the Deo Gloria Prize. He is currently researching
a fourth book.
He has written a 90 minute TV movie and a 40 minute documentary for the
BBC (screened twice) and has written the screenplay for a movie adaptation
of one of his novels.

Comments from students: The
best and most comprehensive of all the creative writing courses
I've taken. Excellent course, excellent lecturer. Beats
all other courses. I learned crafts that other tutors speak about
but never really touch upon. It makes me wonder if other tutors
should attend these lectures. A
lot of freedom to channel creativity in an individual way, explore
new ways of writing, well structured, lots of info, engaging,
encourages group to share ideas and give each other feedback.
Practical exercises useful, not just straight lecturing. I very
much enjoyed this course. It allowed me to think for myself, have
my own ideas and style. Seminars
were very encouraging and helped me to extend and explore my imagination
more freely.
